EcoSki partners with Ski Club of Great Britain

EcoSki has partnered with the Ski Club of Great Britain (SCGB) to encourage members to create sustainable practices with their snowsports — starting with the kit they buy.

The partnership offers members a discount while buying or renting skiwear and accessories from EcoSki, which specialises in sustainable ski kit. As well as offering sustainable ski clothing and accessories for sale and rent, EcoSki offers a skiwear repair service, too.

SCGB managing director James Gambrill said climate change presents the “greatest challenge” to the snowsports industry.

“While both the impacts of Brexit and COVID-19 have wreaked havoc in all corners of the snowsports industry, the longer term threat of climate change and tackling its impact by creating sustainable practices remains our industry’s greatest challenge,” said James.

“As a club with well over a century of history the natural mountain environment we once took for granted is changing at a rapid pace. Sustainability must be a key focus for the Ski Club if we want the sport we helped create to be accessible for future decades. There are so many incredible sustainable initiatives now in our industry, and we want to support as many as possible and encourage our members to seek out the most sustainable options when they make their choices about their ski holiday and ski equipment.”

Rachael Westbrook, founder of EcoSki, added: “We are delighted to partner with the Ski Club of Great Britain and offer its members a discount on the products and services we offer at EcoSki. The wider we can spread the word about how to make more responsible choices when buying this hard-wearing kit, the better. We are also working at EcoSki to keep skiwear in circulation for longer, buy offering a skiwear rental service and skiwear repair service.”

Only brands that are making hugely progressive steps with their environmental and social standards are sold on EcoSki, including Houdini, Maier, Patagonia, Picture Organic, Planks, Marmot, Yuki Threads, Icebreaker, Mammut, Amundsen and Mons Royal.

EcoSki also donates one percent of the net proceeds from every sale to 1% For The Planet, supporting four different charities within its umbrella — Protect Our Winters, Ghost Fishing UK, Root and Branch Out and the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust.
