EcoSki partners with MY WARDROBE HQ to launch UK’s first sustainable skiwear rental platform

Sustainable skiwear retailer EcoSki has launched EcoSki Rental, Europe’s first contemporary online skiwear rental service in collaboration with rental giant MY WARDROBE HQ. Powered by MY VENTURES, the technology service recently launched by MY WARDROBE HQ, EcoSki Rental offers a practical, cost-effective solution for skiers wanting high-quality kit without the high-end price tag.

The carefully curated range of kit includes everything from jackets, pants, helmets and goggles to socks, baselayers, gloves, beanies and even avalanche equipment. All are sourced from a variety of responsible clothing brands including Patagonia, Planks, Picture, Mammut, Yuki Threads, icebreaker, Ortovox, Amundsen, DinoSki, Molo and Protest. There will also be a premium rental range from EcoSki be available on MY WARDROBE HQ for the 2021/22 ski season.

While EcoSki Rental is aimed largely at families and first-time skiers, there is a good selection of high-performance kit for seasoned pros, too — all available for rental periods of four, eight, 12 or 16 days.

Each and every item is chosen for its high performance, durability and style, as well as its overall environmental and social footprint. Sustainability highlights of the rental kit include being  free of PFCs, carbon neutral, Fair Wear certified, free of toxic dyes, bio-sourced and/or 100% recycled.

After every rental, item are cleaned and, if required, reproofed using environmentally friendly Nikwax products and/or repaired. Before being dispatched to the next customer, kit will be sterilised via an innovative, eco-friendly Ozone chamber so it arrives in pristine, mountain-ready condition.

Through the rental, repair and care service, EcoSki aims to keep all hard-wearing ski kit in circulation and on the slopes for longer. Nothing is sent to landfill — every item will be recycled when it reaches end-of-life stage, using EcoSki’s innovative network for repurposing textiles.

EcoSki founder Rachael Westbrook wants to make high-quality, technical and — most importantly — sustainable skiwear available for all. She says: “For many of us, skiwear only comes out of our wardrobe once or twice a year. Quality, well-made and sustainable kit comes with a price tag to match. As a result people are often driven towards the cheaper, poorer-quality alternatives and this is what I want to help change – making high-performance, better-quality and kinder kit more accessible and affordable for all. It will also free up a lot of storage space for families! I hope the EcoSki Rental service will make skiers feel like they are simply borrowing kit from a friend.”

Natalia Pawlak, COO of MY VENTURES and MY WARDROBE HQ adds: “We are thrilled to be partnering with EcoSki to power Europe’s first contemporary online skiwear offering. EcoSki are bringing skiwear to the 21st century and our platform has allowed them to set the new benchmark for the industry — gone are the days of over-paying for poorly designed and over-used ski kit. EcoSki’s premium product range, accompanied by our state-of-the-art technology and ACS’s specialised care and sterilisation processes, allow families to enjoy the latest premium kit in a cost-effective and sustainable way.”
