EcoSki Rental
EcoSki offers the UK’s most extensive ski clothing rental service of high-performance, more planet-friendly kit. EcoSki Rental Service offers skiers, snowboarders and mountain lovers the option of renting skiwear instead of buying, so you can kit yourself out in the best kit for a fraction of the cost and help keep this quality clothing in circulation for longer.
Why rent?
If you are going on your first ski holiday, if you have a growing family or if you go skiing only once or twice a year, your expensive, hard-wearing ski clothing is likely to spend more time in the wardrobe than it is on the slopes. Aside from taking up valuable storage space, the cost-per-wear of little-worn, poor quality ski kit to both your wallet and the planet can be eye-watering. One seam-sealed,waterproof, windproof and breathable ski jacket is estimated to have a carbon cost of 72.7kg of CO2-eq, uses 2.08m3 of fresh water and 992MJ of primary energy (roughly the same energy needed to run a fridge/freezer for a year). When dumped in landfill, that same ski jacket (made with crude oil) can take up to 500 years to break down.
They are sobering numbers, and that’s where EcoSki wants to step in and help lower the global warming potential of this high-performance ski kit by ensuring it is worn and enjoyed by many more people each winter than if it had only one owner.
What’s on offer?
Our rental collection includes a wide range of women's, men's and junior skiwear in a comprehensive range of sizes, hand-picked by skiers, for skiers, and chosen for its high performance, durability, and style, as well as its overall environmental and social footprint.
The junior range has been carefully selected by our founder, Rachael Westbrook, herself a mum of three.
You’ll find essential ski accessories such as helmets from Sweet Protection, goggles from Panda Optics, gloves from Reusch and Hestra, avalanche safety kits from Mammut and back packs from Ortovox, plus lots more.
Brands on offer to rent include Patagonia, Planks, Picture, Ortovox, Norrona, Halti, Houdini, Dinoski and Amundsen as well as, icebreaker and Woolpower.
How does it work?
EcoSki aim to make quality skiwear rental easy, affordable and more accessible—a bit like borrowing from a friend. Simply browse our range and put together your outfit, enter the dates you require and pay at the checkout.
Using DPD’s carbon-neutral courier service we’ll deliver sterile, clean, waterproof kit directly to your door 1-2 days prior to the start of your rental period.
At the end of your holiday, simply package up your item(s), attach the free returns label and drop off at any DPD Drop off Point before midday the day after your final rental date*.There’s no need to clean it - we take care of that , cleaning and sterilising in our innovative, eco-friendly Ozone chamber and, if needed, carrying out minor repairs and waterproofing with environmentally friendly Nikwax products.
How much does it cost?
EcoSki has a minimum 4-day rental period. After which a day rate is applied to make sure you book the kit out for exactly the length of time you need it. Prices start from as little as £3 per day. As a guide, a week’s rental on an adult ski jacket can cost anything from £25 to £90.
What if it doesn’t fit?
EcoSki will deliver your rental kit 1-2 days before your rental commencement date. If you are unsure of sizing we suggest you add 2-3 additional days at the start of your rental period to give us time to send a replacement if required.
Can I try it on first?
New for this winter is our EcoSki try-on service. Although this comes with the additional carbon footprint of shipping, we know this will help give peace of mind for many of our customers.
How it works – choose the item(s) you would like to try on. Add them to your basket then select the “TIO” button at checkout. This will notify us that you wish to try these on prior to rental commencement. We will send the item(s) out at any point between the date of order and up to a week before your rental period. We operate this service at cost (every item sent out must be sterilised before returning to the EcoSki warehouse) so the charge is £10 per item.
Can I keep the kit I rented?
Of course! EcoSki’s skiwear rental service doubles as a ‘try before you buy’ service. If you’re thinking of investing in a particular item or brand, rent it first for a test run on the slopes and when you get back just pay the RRP minus what you have already paid for rental. Drop us an email [email protected] and we will process this for you.
Any further questions?
If you have any questions about the rental process, sizing or just want some advice, please do get in touch. We are here to help and we want your rental experience to be perfect.
If you have any last minute rental requests or can't find waht you are after - just drop us an email and we will do all we can to help.
*If you can’t drop off before midday the day after your final date then please book an additional day so it doesn’t impact the next customer. For example. Your final rental date is 27th April, then the item will need to be with DPD by midday on 28th April.
