A mum of two from Dorking, Surrey explains how renting skiwear for her boys for their family ski holiday proved just the answer she was looking for.

Laura Ford was looking to buy ski clothing for 10-year-old Hugo and Xavi, 13 before their family ski holiday in Villars. Both boys are now the same size, wearing age 13/14 clothes, so she couldn’t even use Xavi’s old ski kit for Hugo.

“As usual the skiing kit the boys had worn for a week the year before was far too small. I know with Covid our previous trip was two seasons ago but they can never wear the same things a year later,” she says.

“So I was frantically trying to buy or borrow skiing gear for my two boys before our trip to Switzerland and in the end bought over £200 of kit from a well-known shop that sells kit at knock-down prices. But when it arrived, the largest child size was too small for both boys and the smallest adult size either wasn’t right or wasn’t that great to wear.”

In addition, Laura says she was “really struggling” with both the impact on the environment of using ski clothing for only one week “and of course the impact on my wallet”.

She adds: “I was also worried that if I bought the cheaper stuff there was a risk my children would be cold and wet and uncomfortable for the week.”

But when a friend told Laura about the junior skiwear rental service from EcoSki and My Wardrobe HQ, it was just what she had been looking for.

She hired ski gloves, goggles, salopettes and ski jackets for Hugo and Xavi.

The EcoSki rental kit was better than we could ever have afforded to buy for one week’s skiing. The boys couldn’t have been better kitted out

“The kit was a completely different quality, really lovely stuff, super green and the goggles and gloves were fantastic,” says Laura. “It all arrived in mint condition, fitted perfectly and looked great on. It was better than we could ever have afforded to buy for one week’s skiing. They couldn’t have been better kitted out!

“To make things even better, I just packaged it up at the end of the trip and sent it back to be cleaned and sterilised at the end of the trip, in a pre-paid envelope. This not only cut down on the amount of washing I had to do but solved the problem of storing clothing for another whole year — all for much less than I’d have paid to buy it.

“I can’t recommend EcoSki highly enough.”
